PE Final Assessment

 (Sorry forgot to post it)

PE this year has been great. I feel like my fitness has improved a lot. It has helped my figure out where I stand in terms of physical health and agility as well as teach me how far I can push myself until it's as far as I can go while still being safe with my medical condition. When I think of "the big picture," I think of learning how to listen to your body, push yourself to your personal best without going too far past a healthy limit, learning how to properly work out and overall, feel better about yourself and make better choices to create a healthier, happier lifestyle. In terms of a grade, I would give myself an A because I'm always prepared and put my best effort forward.

My motivation, to be honest, is I'm scared of gaining weight and getting into a habit of being lazy as I get older and also I just like the feeling of knowing that in order to get a body, like the one I'm grateful to have, I have to work for it. For dance I have to be strong and have endurance, which PE has helped me to better achieve this year. I have a medical condition called Reflex Mediated Syncopee, where I don't have a high enough salt intake and my blood pools in my arms and legs, therefore I pass out often and get lightheaded when I try to push myself in physical activities. I hate having a setback that I can't control, it makes me angry because in terms of running, I could be in a way higher level than I am right now. I've learned to find a way to attempt to push myself without getting that feeling like I'm going to pass out. I keep a positive attitude no matter what. I set my standards for myself high because I believe that I will get back to where I was before all of this. Even though I know there is no going back, I give myself hope for motivation to improve.

I have a positive attitude and I always come prepared. I come to class everyday, there have been a few days that I have had to be excused due to appointments or dance. I work out at a level of intensity that pushes me past my limits and only ever have to slow myself down when I know that if I kept going at the intensity I was at I would pass out. I like to bring a positive atmosphere to the class dynamic, I cheer on teammates whenever we play team sports and congratulate others on effort and when it comes to organized activities I try to take the lead in order to get them started up.  Overall I have enjoyed PE and hope to improve my fitness as I move forward in physical activity.

  1. Hey Melissa,

You have done a nice job this year self regulating. Knowing what you are capable of and when your body needs to rest and recover. When you were fully able to engage you did an excellent job and clearly put in strong effort during fitness activities.

You genuinely seem to embrace being healthy and active both in school and outside of school. You did a terrific job leading by example and keeping a positive attitude throughout the semester.

    All the best!

    Mr. P
